SUPER [PRICED] POWERS
Everyone talks about the perks.
The access. The glow. The gifts.
And yeah, …don’t get it twisted.
I use my superpowers every day.
I build worlds with them.
I connect, decode, alchemize.
I create beauty out of dust.
I turn conversations into mirrors,
and pain into poetry.
But what people don’t talk about
is the bill that comes with that brilliance.
Because when you see patterns
that others miss,
you also feel tension
they haven’t named yet.
You spot the betrayal
before it arrives.
You hear the “I’m fine”
and know it’s a lie.
Superpowers make you trusted.
But not always understood.
They make you needed.
But not always nurtured.
They make you excellent.
But sometimes… they make you exhausted.
See, power isolates.
Not because people don’t love you
but because they expect you
to always be okay.
You’re the one who listens.
Who gives. Who holds space.
Who always finds the meaning beneath the mess.
Who turns down the heat in every room just by showing up.
But where do you go
when you’re the one melting?
When you’re powerful, people assume:
“They got it.”
So they stop checking in.
They stop asking the deeper question.
They think you’re strong enough to carry it alone.
And truth is…
you often are.
But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.
⸻
Superpowers also come with high-stakes decisions.
When you’re free, you have no excuses.
When you’re aware, you can’t play dumb.
You don’t get to act confused about your impact.
You don’t get to coast.
It’s all on you now.
And that freedom?
Yeah, it’s sacred.
But it’s terrifying too.
This isn’t a complaint.
This is an acknowledgment.
That the gift comes wrapped in thorns.
That the glow costs sleep,
and the insight costs innocence.
That the vision makes you lonely sometimes.
Because there are fewer and fewer people who speak your language.
But if you’re reading this…
You probably speak it.
And if you do, let me just say,
…I see you.
Not just for your light,
but for the burn marks it leaves behind.
Not just for your wisdom,
but for the silence you had to sit in to earn it.
Your power is real.
And so is its price.
